Nomadland (2020)
Dir: Chloe Zhao
Chloé Zhao’s latest film builds on her previous work in examining American myths that have been eroded by late capitalism. Frances McDormand is Fern, a widow from a deindustrialised and depopulated town who takes up living in her van, as she becomes more aquainted with her new vagrant lifestyle she discovers more about herself as an individual as well as a sense of community that exists amongst the modern ‘nomads’ of America.
